IT'S THE DAMON SHOW!

I've been accused by some of not liking Mike's right-hand man and senior contractor Damon Bennett. Why? Because I have the tendency to make him the butt of all my Mike-related jokes. Honestly, I think Damon is awesome, and teasing is just the way I show my love. He's also a major cutie pie. Yup, he's pretty dreamy...still not as good looking as Mike, but pretty easy on the eyes nonetheless. Besides all that, if I didn't like Damon, I'd just ignore him completely all together.

That said, there have been a lot of rumors over the years of Damon leaving Mike's side and doing his own show. As of late, those rumors have been pretty much confirmed, at least in part. Damon will still be apart of Mike's new show, Holmes Makes It Right, but he will undoubtedly be taking a small step back as he begins his own HGTV reno-reality journey. The title of Damon's new show has yet to be announced, but there was a casting call for the pilot on the HGTV website (the deadline to submit was August 13). From what I can gather, it will focus on the renovation and restoration of older/historic homes in the Greater Toronto Area. Pretty cool. Good luck, Damon!

(Hmmmm... you'd think that HGTV would learn to spell Damon's name right one of these days, huh?)

Between you, me, and the wall, though, I have a sneaking suspicion that Damon will be intertwined in the Holmes family for a long time to come. Call it a hunch. Take that to mean whatever you want ;-)

  1. Between you, me and the wall, I wouldn't bet on Damon having much of anything to do with the Holmes family once he moves on to his own show. Just call it a hunch.

  2. I think Damon will always be around in one way or another. He's just too much apart of the family to up and bounce.

    1. I agree. Maybe he will become a "real part" of the Holmes family someday.(if he hasn't already)But then we never know, do we?

  3. Oh come on, television people always say 'we are like a family' while they are working together because they spend so much time together on set. Truth is though that they end up saying the same thing about every crew on every show they work on. At te end of the day these people are his co-workers, not family & once he is busy working on a new production he simply won't have time to see these people anymore & his new crew will become his new ''work family'.

    1. Maybe so... but I think there are other reasons he might stick around. Non-work related reasons. And that's pretty much all I'm at liberty to say.

    2. Oh, come on, give a little more info on this subject. Inquiring minds want to know, all.

  4. I know what you are trying to imply. You are feeding into the untrue gossip that he is involved with Sherry. Nothing could be further from the truth. Damon is in a relationship with a woman who has nothing to do with the show. Stop feeding into the gossip, Holmes Spot. You have no "inside" information. You are just a blog, from another country I may add!

    1. I am doing no such thing, nor am I claiming to have ANY inside information. As I have stated numerous times, I do not know Mike nor do I know any member of his crew. I have made it abundantly clear that all opinions expressed are my own unless otherwise stated. I have stated only that I believe that Damon is a part of the Holmes extended family, and I believe he will be around long after he does his own show. Any implications you perceive are in your imagination. In addition, my nationality is completely irrelevant to this argument.

    2. I live in the same condo complex as Mr. Bennett & his significant other. They are a lovely couple, friendly, always willing to make small talk on the elevator. I see them quite regularly because we all use the dog run for our dogs. His partner does not work on the show.
I imagine that he and Mr Holmes have become friends after working together for so many years. I think that is all the moderator was saying, that she feels they will continue to be friends once they go their separate ways professionally speaking. At least that is how the post read to me.

    3. Yes, and then there have been new developments in the Damon Bennett show that Point Load Pictures (Mike's production company) is putting out. They've officially announced a pilot has been filmed in January of this year. I didn't really want to state more about that until I was sure that Mike Holmes' company was indeed going through with this. I feel more comfortable talking about it now that an official announcement has been made. Before that, it was rumors and chatter from friends on the internet. So Damon may not be on Mike's show, but he's going to be on Holmes' payroll. The ongoing relationship between Holmes and Damon Bennett will continue, and I have some speculative theories and feelings about and I don't wish to share them right now... but maybe soon!

    4. Oh no! He's got a girlfriend. You have just crushed the dreams of a large percentage of available females in the US. He is such a cutie.

  5. Damon should be added to HGTV'S/DIY hunk list!

  6. I have a question for Anonymous, dated March 9, 2013. What do you mean by significant other? And partner?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Significant other (SO) is colloquially used as a gender-blind term for a person's partner in an intimate relationship without disclosing or presuming anything about marital status, relationship status, or sexual orientation, as it is vague enough to avoid offense by using a term that an individual might consider inappropriate (e.g. lover when he or she considers him or her a boyfriend or girlfriend. Other synonyms include sweetheart, better half, spouse, domestic partner, or lover, when he or she considers him or her a soulmate or life partner).

    1. Thanks for the Webster's definition of Significant Other. That's not what I meant, I already knew this definition.

    2. The post in question seems pretty clear to me, he lives with someone. Significant other means significant other, there shouldn't be any confusion there. None of this has anything to do with the shows, which are not about the contractors who do the work, the shows are about construction/renovations/inspections etc. so why don't we keep our conversations about the content on the shows & leave the other stuff alone. I always feel uncomfortable reading about people's private lives, it doesn't matter if its 'Brad & Angie' or Mike Holmes or David Letterman, I don't need or want to know, it isn't relevant to their jobs, end of story.

Recently I read that Mikejr may also be getting a show, is there any truth to this? He has come a long way & has learned so much, I actually see him teaching other people on the show now. I've also seen him do guest spots on et Canada & the Marilyn show, I thought he was great on both. I wonder what his show would be about?

Any more updates on the Damon show?

      -Sue

    3. Hey Sue, I agree with you. The reason for the show is about construction and the knowledge that a person can get from listening and watching. We do watch and we do learn a lot from the crew as to what to do and look for when we have something done to our home. But unfortunately when you are on TV and in the spotlight, there are who want to know everything about everyone, even their private lives, and I guess when you are in the public eye you should expect this.

  9. Does anyone know how tall Damon is? I've noticed he has to be careful about hitting his head in low ceiling areas but I can't find out how tall he is.

    1. Mike is 6'1" which means that Damon's gotta be at least 6'4" or more.

  10. in response to AnonymousApril 23, 2013 at 8:18 PM post, when someone uses the term "Significant other" these days, it generally means a non-traditional relationship. Traditional relationship is the standard male-female relationship. The most common use of the term is when the person talking about the couple does not know the sex of the other part of the relationship or does not know the sexual inclination of the person they are talking about.. If the sex is known for both parties, or the sexual inclination is known, then the direct description is generally used. Anyone that claims they are not implying anything by the use of the term is straight out being dishonest to both themselves and others.

    1. Ummm....no....? Significant other means just that... someone who is significant to someone romantically. It can mean a husband or wife, or someone's boyfriend or girlfriend. By that same token it can also mean same sex partner, but absolutely NO ONE is trying to imply that about Damon, at least not from what I'm reading. I call my husband my "significant other" and my "partner" all the time, and I don't even think twice about it.

  11. Damon is Mike's clone and will bomb on his own show. He tries to hard to be like Mike but cries more.

    1. I think you severely underestimate Damon's charisma and the sheer number of fans he has. Damon has done some primers for HGTV and he is most certainly not a clone of Mike Holmes. He has a very nice personality and style that is uniquely his. He's very knowledgable and would make an excellent host of his own series.

  12. So, he is not with Sherry

    ReplyDelete
  13. The only clones on the show are Mikes kids, I am strictly referring to thier looks, because it is quite obvious that charm, charisma, & natural talent cannot be cloned. The most awkward moments on the show are when Sherry or MJ attempt to speak on camera, it is, in a word, painful. I agree with the holmes spot, Damon does a great job & is quite different from Mike. I wish him much success in his future endeavours. I'm sure his 10K+ followers on Facebook would agree.

    Hello,

Please find our self-explanatory email, regarding our new home. On November 23, 2011, permit was made by the licensed contractors to accomplish work under the permit issued, described in accordance with such duplicate plans and/or specifications submitted to the Long Beach City Building Department, and on file with the Long Beach Cities Building inspector.

On November 23, 2011, application was made by our agent, A.K.A. the licensed contractors to accomplish work under permit issued described in accordance with such duplicate plans and/or specifications, and on file with the Long Beach Cities Building Inspector to accomplish work under contract to accomplish work performed for Ann and Bobby Ryan for the purpose of rebuilding their home destroyed by Hurricane Katrina at 210 West Avenue Long Beach, Ms. 39560.

Our house plan is HGTV's 1998 Dream Home Give Away designed by Allison Ramsey Architects.

To sum it up, the contractors did not follow the plan, and walked off the job in October 2012.

When the contractors walked off the job the home was far from being completed.

The home is in what you would call the black in stage.

The home is approximately 70 % complete.

  17. I like mikes show.
But that Damon guy is such an ass kisser to holmes it makes my skin crawl.
I'd like the show better without his nose up holmes ass and trying to upstage himself.
    Big ego.
    Totally annoying.

  18. How can you say he has a big ego? In EVERY show he comments about the crew and compliments them and their hard work. Comments from people who don't know others - that's what is annoying.

  22. So much for 'sneaking suspicions', I always had a feeling that the whole 'we are like one big family' thing was just PR. Now that the show has wrapped production my guess is he left because the show was over & he wanted to get a head start on his own production. I hope his show gets picked up, there will certainly be a spot to fill now that Mike's show is over. Good luck Damon!

  23. I never like Damon. I think he has way too much ulterior motives; out for himself and not for anyone else. Why did Shawn Morren and Ben Green left after he join the show?

  24. Often wondered if Damon was related to the Newfoundlander Bennets i work with at Fort MacMurray. Talented guys.
