Mike Holmes on CBC Marketplace: Home Ripoffs

On March 1, 2013 CBC news rehashed a story they did several years ago with Mike Holmes, talking about home owners getting ripped off by unscrupulous contractors and bad home inspectors. In this latest story, they followed up with some of the homeowners and criminal contractors they had featured previously and talked more with Mike about how to avoid getting scammed.

Just FYI -- There is no pause, rewind or fast forward, so get your snacks and potty breaks out of the way first before you click on the link!

  1. I've been watching your shows since they first aired. What I keep wondering is why? Why are shady contractors still out there? Why are people letting these people into their homes? I know you're only one man, but surely enough people have seen your show that they know what to look out for.

Secondly, I watch Holmes Inspection and I see crap work being done by these so called inspectors. This is a clear example of a double whammy. Home owners are getting the shaft. Why don't we here of home inspectors getting charged? I would like to see your show or a new show where the contractor or the inspector being hauled off to court. It could be called Holmes Justice.

I would like to see you go into some businesses and do renovations fix ups or inspections.
