SOS Children’s Villages is an independent, nongovernmental social development organization. Since its founding in 1949, SOS Children’s Villages has expanded to over 500 villages in 133 countries. We are currently raising over 80,000 children in our villages and through our many education, family strengthening, medical, and outreach programs, we impact the lives of over 1 million people each year.Basically, what the charity does is create orphanages ("villages") for the sponsored children to live in. The villages attempt to provide a well rounded familial environment, complete with mentors who love and nurture the children as a mother would. SOS takes care of a child's basic needs (food, clothing, shelter, medical), and gives the children a quality education in hopes that they will use their education to provide for themselves when they become adults, thus ending the poverty cycle.
Yesterday, September 14, 2012, SOS Children's Villages released some new PSA's from Mike asking people to support the charity. The videos are new, but the footage I think is a wee bit older than the videos themselves. The first video is the full video, and the subsequent ones are merely different versions, edited for different purposes and uses. We're pretty thorough around here, so we played it safe and posted them all. Don't miss the videos at the end from Mike's trip to Africa, though. They're my absolute favorite videos of Mike! You won't want to miss them!
