Urea Got Me

If you're in Canada, don't miss Mike's show Holmes Makes It Right tonight at 9PM EST. If you're not Canadian, Mike's new show will be airing in early 2013. A description of tonight's episode from the HGTV Canada website:

Urea Got Me

Mike gets called to a house recently retrofitted with a substance that’s been banned in Canada for decades. But what starts as a problem with their insulation grows into a complete demo, and Mike faces a decision he’s reluctant to make.

  1. He failed to mention the fact that they still have to disclose the fact that the home had uffi installed after the cost of removing it. That is stamped on that house forever!

  2. We had Retrofoam installed in our home and I read a news article from Mike Holmes that it was the home owners fault for not looking into the products contents/approval...even though it was recommended by name by Canadian/Federally licensed auditors that did the evaluation through the eco energy program. Hmmmm???

  3. I'm sorry, but the homeowners seem very clueless in this particular episode. If you smell mold in your basement, why rent it? Especially to your own child's daycare provider-- or to anyone for that matter. Could you imagine McGillivray's reaction? Mold smell is obvious and known to be dangerous. These homeowners were not wise whatsoever!!!
