HGTV’s Mike Holmes Talks Construction Quality, Sustainability with BUILDER Magazine

The construction industry has been using building techniques that produce too many callbacks and as a result needs to rethink the way it builds houses, general contractor Mike Holmes, host of the HGTV series Holmes on Homes and Holmes Inspection, told Builder magazine at the 2011 International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla.
Holmes, a Canadian contractor who is perhaps the most respected and popular general contractor in America at the moment, said many of our houses are failing because of the minimum code. “If we don’t upgrade a few things within minimum code, it’s not logical; everything is barred low.”
